Amphora X-tra - 723 Holland Estate Pipe
TRY 0.00
Amphora is a brand you will also know from tobacco. Production was very limited and of high quality, and after a while it was discontinued. The pipes were made by Elbert Gubbels & Sons - Royal Dutch Pipe Factory, which today also produces Porsche pipes. A rare and quite hard-to-find estate pipe, probably made in the 1970s.

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Flush with the chamber floor but very slightly to the left of the chamber. It will have no effect on performance.
Shank: Very clean. It has had no extra work done.
Chamber Cleanliness: The chamber is very clean. There is no cake layer; it has been reamed very well.
Flaws: Perhaps one or two pits on the bowl, as far as can be made out through the sandblasting. They have no effect on the smoke or on performance.
Score: 7/10
Note: Any pipe in which you do not build a cake layer will run hot unless you keep a very, very slow and systematic pace. Heat is not a valid criterion for pipes without a cake.
