Ascorti - Sabbia di Oro | Hand Made Estate Pipe

Ascorti is one of Italy's most important handmade pipe makers and produces pipes of very high quality. Although it is generally known for the Business series, it later produced the Sabbia di Oro line, and these pipes stand out especially for their size. 

The Sabbia di Oro you are looking at is an estate pipe with a briar quality that is rare even among its peers. Ring grain, and the pipe is laid out on the block perfectly. It is worth noting that the chamber is "quite" large. Where 2cm is the accepted norm for chamber diameter, 2.5cm was used, and against the accepted norm of a 4cm chamber depth, a 4.5cm chamber depth was used. 

If you are a big person with large hands, this pipe is truly made for you. Personally, if it does not sell for a while I will be adding it to my own collection: a very beautiful pipe I like a great deal, with flawless workmanship and wonderful briar. I recommend you do not miss it.

Shank: Very clean. No extra work has been done to it.
 

Chamber Cleaning: The chamber is very clean. There is a very thin, evenly formed cake layer.

Note: Any pipe in which you do not build up a cake will run hot unless you smoke at a very, very slow and systematic cadence. Running hot is not a criterion for pipes without a cake layer.
