Bewlay operated until the 1950s, after which pipe production ceased. This makes it certain that the pipe in the photos predates 1950. 

Bewlay pipes are top-tier pipes made to order by Charatan, Sasieni and Orlik, and their pre-'50 production is considered very high quality.

 

Shank: Whitish and very clean.

 

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center in the chamber and flush with the chamber floor.

 

Chamber Cleanliness: Very well reamed and quite symmetrical.

 

Condition: 8/10

 

Flaws: One pit under the shank. The tenon is a touch loose.

Comment: The briar quality and engineering of the Bewlay British estate pipe in this listing are very good. A ring grain sandblast; these dimensions and this quality do not come along easily. Definitely not to be missed.
