Originally known as Roger Buffard Bontemps, this workshop was bought in 1969 by the Berrod-Regad group, one of the giants of the French pipe industry. (Berrod-Regad is a long-established company that still produces and manages the world-famous Butz-Choquin brand today.)

Judging by the old-style "bontemps / SAINT-CLAUDE" stamping, we can say that this piece dates from between the 1970s and the 1980s, the company's most productive years.
