Brebbia - Nemo | Italian Estate Pipe

Brebbia, otherwise known as MPB (Manifattura Pipe Brebbia), was born in 1953 when the partnership between Achille Savinelli and Enea Buzzi ended in 1947. In that partnership Savinelli handled pipe marketing while Enea Buzzi handled production. Until 1953 production was carried out privately.
 

Brebbia is a brand known for making very high-quality pipes, and its quality standards are quite high.

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center at the bottom of the chamber and drilled flush with the chamber floor, in perfect workmanship.

 

Shank: No soot or tar residue. Some areas are black.

 

Chamber Cleaning: Very well done. The cake was reamed out very successfully. Completely smooth.

 

Flaws: There is a very small tooth mark on the original mouthpiece. As far as I can tell through the sandblast, there are a few pits around the chamber. The wall is thinner than 2mm. The chamber walls may have been reamed extra during servicing. 

 

Score: 5/10

 

Comment: It has a very nice sandblast. The servicing was done with good craftsmanship, but we do not know why the extra reaming was necessary. The mouthpiece is original. The wall struck me as a bit thin; great care should be taken to keep a gentle cadence. 

 

Note: Any pipe in which you do not build up a cake will run hot unless you smoke at a very, very slow and systematic cadence. Running hot is not a criterion for pipes without a cake layer.
