Buckingham London Made - British Estate Pipe

Brand: Buckhingham

 

A brand that has very high-quality examples as well as genuinely poor ones. Although I am personally quite happy with my own Buckingham, I do not think this pipe will perform similarly.

 

Shank: Light in color and clean.

 

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center in the chamber, but not flush with the chamber floor. The gap is not large enough to affect the smoke, but care should still be taken smoking down to the bottom.

 

Chamber Cleanliness: Very well reamed and quite symmetrical.

 

Condition: 7/10

 

Flaws: Assorted pits on the left of the chamber and in a few other spots. Apart from that, a trouble-free pipe.

 

Score: 5/10

 

Comment: The briar quality is poor. Ebauchon was used. The bowl is also quite light for its size. I think it would make a wonderful teacher for getting used to a slow pace and for learning not to overheat a pipe, because it will probably heat up quickly. An estate pipe that can be considered a training pipe.
