Chap is a French brand created in the 1920s by the Chapel Frères factory, founded in Saint-Claude in 1904; over time it passed to Gefapip and, from 1988 onward, to the Berrod-Regad group.

Shank: Pure white. In very good condition.

 

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center of the chamber and flush with the chamber bottom.

 

Chamber Reaming: Very well reamed and quite symmetrical.

 

Condition: 9/10

 

Flaws: There are a few pits in various places. The tenon material is aluminum.

 

Score: 8/10

 

Comment: Chap - Perfect French Estate Pipe. Apart from the pits, a very nice pipe. The workmanship is exactly as it should be, with a flat shank. It really is a nicer pipe in person than in the photos.
