Brand: Design Berlin Maritim

Although the brand's roots go back to East Germany after World War II, it registered the name "Design Berlin" in 1975, when it began producing more modern, Danish-influenced, high-quality designs. In later years it was absorbed by the large German tobacco company Planta.

The single feature that made Design Berlin famous worldwide is its patented system, which lets the smoke exit the tip of the mouthpiece through two separate holes (twin-bore) instead of one. It keeps the smoke from hitting your tongue directly, spreading it across the palate for a very cool smoke.

This DB model is also known as the "Sailor." Maritim means "maritime/naval," and the pipe was designed entirely around that theme. It is quite rare.

Comment: A seriously substantial estate pipe. I liked its design and especially its briar quality a great deal. An upper-mid segment pipe. Since it is not "just any" pipe you might easily come across, it will make an excellent addition to a collection.
