There is not much left to say about Dunhill, a British classic. Its quality standards have always been top-tier, and evidently that was the case in 1986 as well.
Since this pipe belongs to a friend from our community, I know very well how it was smoked. A very clean estate pipe with very good performance. What is more, this shank type is not one you often see on either the new White Spot Dunhill pipes or the old Dunhills. If you like Canadian pipes and do not have a Dunhill, I recommend you not miss it.

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Not flush with the chamber floor. The chamber floor was probably scraped away during reaming (normal for a 39-year-old pipe). There is, however, no gurgling problem.
Shank: Very clean and long. This is one of the features that contributes most to a cool smoke.
Chamber Cleanliness: Very well cleaned. There is no cake layer.;
Flaws: There are two surface hairline cracks at the chamber rim, visible in the photos as well. This is normal for a pipe of this age. It has no effect on performance or on the health of the pipe.
Score: 8/10
Note: Any pipe in which you do not build a cake layer will run hot unless you keep a very, very slow and systematic pace. Heat is not a valid criterion for pipes without a cake.
