The company was founded in France by Janvier Quercia, an Italian immigrant and a direct descendant of Jacopo della Quercia, Michelangelo's teacher, and is in fact a lighter brand. From 1890 onward, Janvier Quercia ran a successful trade in religious objects made of precious metals in France.

 

When Carl Auer von Welsbach invented the flint, Quercia patented a variety of silver lighters based on the "everlasting match" principle. In 1908 he produced his first spark-wheel lighter, which he named Flamidor. In 1911 he launched the Briquet Parisien, a lighter with a hinged lid (30 years before Zippo).

Shank: It has started to darken slightly but is very clean.

 

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center in the chamber and flush with the chamber floor.

 

Chamber Cleaning: Very well reamed and quite symmetrical.

 

Condition: 6/10

 

Flaws: There are pits in various places and an ebauchon block was used.

Comment: Flamidor - Fine Bruyere French Estate PipeThis is not a pipe that will come good without work. It has a high potential to run hot and to gurgle. It will train your smoking very well, but if you do not want the hassle, do not buy it.
