Honestly, I could not find much information about it, nor have I come across a smooth Giovanni before. There is only an unconfirmed claim that it is a sub-brand of Santambrogio. If they are using briar like this, with this level of craftsmanship, on a sub-brand, that really is remarkable.

Comment: An upper-intermediate estate pipe. If the flame grain had wrapped all the way around the bowl it would have been a stunning sight, but even so the briar looks truly magnificent. No pits. The only thing that gave me pause was the 44.8 g weight without the mouthpiece. While it seems certain there will be no overheating issues, it would be wise to smoke it at a fairly slow cadence until the cake layer we want has built up, in order to keep moisture under control.
