Brand: Kriswill
Founded in the late 1950s, Kriswill was one of the two large pipe manufacturers in Denmark during the '60s and '70s, on par with Stanwell in terms of headcount, number of pipes produced and quality.
The cover of the Kriswill catalog carried this line: "Approved Manufacturer to the Royal Danish Court - Handmade Pipes in Denmark"
The Kriswill - Chief - Handmade in Denmark estate pipe in this listing was certainly made in the 1970s, though it is hard to pin down an exact date. Pre-'70 production used a handwritten font, while in the '70s it changed to the stamping style seen on this example and to the classic snowflake and compass emblem on the mouthpiece.
Shank: Whitish and very clean.
Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center in the chamber and flush with the chamber floor.
Chamber Cleaning: Very well reamed and quite symmetrical.
Condition: 8/10
Flaws: A few very small pits. Hard to spot. The mouthpiece is a touch loose.
Score: 7/10
Comment: A pipe with very good briar and workmanship. From the mortise it is clear that it was not smoked much. There are a few pits that are very hard to spot and the mouthpiece is a touch loose.
