Tracing its roots to a workshop founded in 1900 by the Lana Brothers (Fratelli Lana) in Gallarate, Italy, Lorenzo is one of the most characterful brands in Italian pipe making. After the Tagliabue family took over the business in 1946 and Lorenzo Tagliabue stepped into management in the 1950s, the brand moved away from cheap series-produced pipes toward an original design language. With its iconic beefy shapes, flat-bottomed designs that stand on a tabletop, and matte reddish/orange patinated finishes, it officially took the name Lorenzo Pipes in 1969 and gained worldwide renown.

 

Shank: Light in color and clean.

 

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center in the chamber but not entirely flush. There is a gap of about a millimeter. It will not affect the smoke.

 

Chamber Cleaning: Very well reamed and quite symmetrical.
