I could not find any information about this stamping.
Note: This is an estate pipe that has been in my rotation for about two and a half years, the one I call my "test pipe," and it has endured every kind of torture and experiment. When I first got it, it was so wet that it was practically unsmokable. After building up a considerable cake and putting in a lot of work, it now smokes with real pleasure.
Why Am I Selling It?
We have truly reached the end of what it can teach me and what I can learn from it. Now that it smokes so well, it is far more valuable for it to teach something to someone else in our community. Of course, I will make a note of who ends up with it.
Shank: Very clean. It is a well-known fact how obsessive I am about cleaning after every smoke.
Smoke Channel (Draft Hole): Dead center of the chamber, but it grazes the chamber floor. Faulty workmanship, sure, but what did we do? We built cake. Smoking down to the bottom a bit more would make it even better.
Chamber Cleanliness: It has a cake layer built up with considerable care. That is why it smokes so well today.
Condition: 6/10
Flaws: Pits or dents, take your pick? It has them all.
Score: 17/10 - Because it is my own pipe :)
What Is Its Character?
It cannot take hard puffing, it will get wet, so do not push it. At a sensible cadence you can puff a little harder to bring out the base notes; it has no problem with that. Since it is an Opera cut, take extra care with the pack, do not press too hard when tamping, and it will handle the rest.
