Ropp - Standard Estate Pipe

Founded in 1869 and still offering new pipes today, this is a brand that can make very good pipes but also has some very bad ones. It began making briar pipes proper in 1917. The one shown here is a very high-quality Ropp estate pipe.

 

Shank: Very clean.

 

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center in the chamber and flush with the chamber floor.

 

Chamber Cleanliness: Very well reamed and quite symmetrical.

 

Condition: 6/10

 

Flaws: Apart from 3-4 pits in various spots that are very hard to see and the wear marks on the mouthpiece, a flawless pipe. A new mouthpiece could be made for it.

 

Score: 6/10

 

Comment: The mouthpiece is a V cut and the briar is very nice. The air hole is flawless. Even in terms of shape it is quite successful. I took off a point because of the marks on the mouthpiece and a few pits; otherwise it would definitely deserve a 7, a pipe not to be missed.
