Briar Quality Cannot Be Judged on Rusticated Pipes.

 

Shank: Light in color and very clean. 

 

Draft Hole (Air Hole): Dead center of the chamber and flush with the chamber bottom.

 

Chamber Reaming: Very well reamed, but there is a slight asymmetry at the bottom of the chamber.

 

Condition: 7/10

 

Flaws: Asymmetry at the bottom of the chamber.

 

Score: 5/10

 

Comment: A very handsome German estate pipe, but the asymmetry at the bottom of the chamber may cause gurgling. Even so, I've seen small asymmetries like this fail to cause any gurgling at all.
