Smoke Path (Air Hole): In the middle of the bottom of the chamber and right in the middle. Just as it should be.

Shank: No soot or tar residue, but blackened. This indicates long-term use.

Chamber Cleaning: Quite successful. The track was etched quite well. It is quite symmetrical but plated with armor.

Flaws: I counted 6-7 pits on the bowl wall. This is quite a lot. The grain structure is defective. While it doesn't affect the drink, it's still a flaw.

 Score: 4/10

Comment: Poor stem quality. The presence of armor in the bowl should always be a warning sign, as if you examine other pipes, you'll only see that the cake layer has been scraped off. The armor is used to prevent an irreparable problem within the bowl and to prevent damage to the wood when the embers meet. The armor isn't the thin, smooth carbon layer you'd find on brand-new pipes. In conclusion, I'd say this pipe is suitable for first-time pipe buyers. It can be easily tired and at least the basics can be learned with it. I have a favorite saying: "A bad pipe educates the pipe smoker."

Note: Any pipe that hasn't created a track (cake layer) will heat up unless you use a very, very slow, systematic pace. Heat-up is not a criterion for pipes without track.
