Grand Slam pipes with the bar logo date to 1933-1945; after the Second World War this logo was replaced by a three-piece inlaid "C". Marks such as "*4" and "*5" in the stamp denote the size of the leather washer at the tip of the metal pin, and are struck on the underside of the shank. An example based on the same patent is also found on the Newhaven brand.
