Pipes in this line use a double-hole stem; the vertical hole near the bit is original to production, not drilled later. This briar-wood stem was used between 1952 and 1955; for a similar feature see the Stembiter model. Other brands with the same type of wooden stem are Barnaby, Il Ceppo, and LHS (Purex Allbriar); for a different kind of wooden shank see Salvatella.
