Maker Roman Kovalev (b. 1971) makes pipes alongside working as a neurologist, hence the "DOC" stamp on his pipes. His pipes carry no grading or dating stamp. Records indicate he has also used strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo) wood in addition to briar.
