Brylon is a synthetic material developed by S.M. Frank Co in 1966; it is made from a mixture of heat-resistant resin and wood flour. Compared to briar, this material is cheaper and more crack-resistant, but it is heavier and heats up more during smoking. The same company also used Brylon for the Yello-Bole brand.
