Maker Andrew Petersen (b. 1970) began making pipes in 2007 and, as of 2013, has done so part-time; per 2012 figures he made 40-50 pipes a year. Early pipes carried a plain "QCP" stamp; the letters were later placed inside an oval, then replaced by a borderless oval reading "A. Petersen USA" with the pipe number in the center. Records indicate the maker planned to grade his pipes with one, two, or three tobacco leaves.
