In Catalan, "bosc" means forest. One example has a wide briar disc set on the left side of the stem; the light-colored shank on the same pipe is not briar, and records suggest it may be boxwood or lemon wood. Other brands producing pipes with briar shanks include Barnaby, Il Ceppo, Kaywoodie Allbriar, and LHS (Purex Allbriar).
