Trapwell pipes stamped "World's Best Briar" are not made from briar but from Kalmia latifolia (mountain laurel) wood of the Ericaceae family; this plant is poisonous. At least three brands are known to have used the same wood: Trapwell, Breezewood, and Custombilt.
