1776 Tavern is a blend the maker classifies as "heavy English," carrying no flavoring at all. Per the catalog description, its composition includes numerous Oriental leaves such as Turkish Mahalla, broad-cut Yenidje, Samsun, Cavalla, and Dubek, alongside red Virginia, Burley, and Latakia. Such a large share of Oriental leaves pulls the blend from the classic English recipe toward the Balkan side; indeed, the product is also referred to as an Oriental-forward Balkan style.
