Escudo Navy Deluxe is one of the best-known examples of coin-cut (spun cut) Virginia-Perique blends. Virginia leaves are spun around a Perique core, pressed, and cut into thin coins. Originating in England, this blend was produced for a long time in Denmark by A&C Petersen; the brand's production site and ownership have changed hands several times over its history.

Alongside full Virginia sweetness, Perique's black-pepper-leaning spice is pronounced; despite being unflavored, flavor intensity is high, and the burn is measured and cool.
