Garnet

Garnet is an unflavored mixture in the tobacco line of Barling, a brand founded in London in 1812; the blend is prepared in Germany by Planta. It contains Syrian Latakia, Burley, Perique, Java, and Virginia leaf; since the Latakia share is kept limited, it's classed as a light English blend.

Syrian Latakia gives a drier, spicier smoke than Cyprus Latakia, while the Perique adds a plum-and-pepper depth. The Java leaf and Burley pull the blend toward the earthy side, and Virginia sweetness restores the balance.
