Pirates Gold

Pirates Gold is a blend prepared by Bennington Tobacconist using the traditional rope method. Golden Virginia is combined with black Cavendish; the mixture is wrapped in whole tobacco leaves and twisted by hand, rested in cake form, then cut into very thin discs.

Since this preparation compresses and matures the tobacco, the taste turns out more intense and rounder than ribbon-cut equivalents. Virginia's natural sugar and Cavendish's dark sweetness set a medium-bodied profile that could be called essentially unflavored. Since it comes as thin discs, it needs to be rubbed out or coiled into place before packing. It's aimed at smokers familiar with rope and coin-cut tobaccos.
