Blatter Reserve

Blatter Reserve is a Latakia-forward Balkan blend prepared under its own name by the Blatter & Blatter shop in Montreal. Latakia, Perique, Oriental, and Turkish leaf are added over a Virginia base, along with some Cavendish; there is no added flavoring. On opening the pack, the smoky, sweetish smoke of the Latakia dominates; in the bowl, the Perique's spicy note arrives together with Virginia's sweetness.

Since Burley is almost absent and the Virginia share is kept low, nicotine stays light; flavor intensity, however, is high and shifts over the course of the bowl. It suits smokers looking for rich Latakia blends in the Balkan Sobranie style, wanting an unflavored, full-bodied evening tobacco. The Blatter family began pipe-making in London in the late 1890s and settled in Montreal in 1907 by way of South Africa.
