Natural Cavendish

Natural Cavendish is a Cavendish-based blend in Sutliff's Blender's Gold line, aimed at the American tobacco maker's bulk market. Per the product description it's made from imported and domestic leaf, offers a fine-cut leaf put through the classic Cavendish process, and is kept very mild so it won't bite the tongue. The line was sold for a long time in pouch packaging on drugstore-chain shelves, later moving to 3.5-ounce tins.

In character it's a plain, straightforward tobacco: aside from the mild sweetness the Cavendish process brings, it carries no pronounced flavor layer, burns cool and dry, and — thanks to low tin moisture — packs and lights easily. Its low nicotine makes it suitable for pipe beginners and for smokers wanting a mild background tobacco to smoke throughout the day; those wanting more intense flavor usually use it as a component mixed into other blends.
