Borkum Riff Bourbon Whiskey is a ribbon-cut aromatic blend built mainly on Virginia and black Cavendish with some Burley, named for its Kentucky bourbon topping. According to sources, the mix uses Virginias of Brazilian and African origin along with black Cavendish sourced from Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. The blend of light and dark leaf gives a moderate whiskey impression on opening the pack; in the smoke the topping stays in the background, following a flat course alongside Virginia sweetness.

Borkum Riff launched in Sweden in 1962, taking its name from a lighthouse in the North Sea; the blends, originally produced for Swedish Match, are now prepared in Denmark under Scandinavian Tobacco Group. This blend was added in the early 1960s with the American palate in mind. Its low moisture means it can be packed straight from the pouch; its light nicotine and mild smoke suit smokers in their early pipe years as well as those seeking a simple all-day aromatic.
