Perique Flake

2018 Virginia & Perique Flake is a flake-cut blend Bosphorus released in 2018, made of golden virginia and perique. Per the manufacturer's description, a very small chocolate touch has been applied to the blend; this casing is faint enough to be distinguishable only when one knows it is there. The product comes moist and its slices are thicker than usual.

The chocolate touch, pronounced on first light, recedes as the smoke progresses, giving way to perique's spicy, grassy, lightly tart flavor; the sweet virginia base stays at the same level throughout. When filled as flake it can be finished with a single light without overheating or running wet; when brought to ribbon form it needs more frequent relighting. Suitable for those seeking a very lightly flavored Virginia/Perique.
