Balkan (Mixture No. 10)

Balkan, in Brebbia's numbered mixture series, is a Latakia-forward blend prepared under the Italian pipe manufacturer's name; per records it was manufactured at the German DTM workshop. Its composition keeps Latakia at a high proportion, with a small amount of kentucky and perique added to increase body and strength.

Because the Virginia share is kept low, instead of the familiar sweet base, salty, smoky tones and the tart notes brought by the Oriental leaf come forward. The body is between medium and full. Suitable for experienced smokers who want Latakia in its unsoftened form and seek smoke and spice over sweetness.
