Back Down South is a Virginia-Perique leaf in the small-batch series Tennessee-based BriarWorks has Cornell & Diehl manufacture. The blend, pairing Virginias with perique, is pressed into flake form and offered in a two-ounce glass jar; this packaging suits long aging of the leaf.

In the flavor profile, fig and dark-chocolate echoes come forward along with the light peppery spice perique gives. No casing is used; the sweetness comes entirely from the Virginia's own sugar.
