Kingfisher

Kingfisher is a blend prepared under the Michael Butera name and, per records, manufactured by J. F. Germain & Son in the 2010s. Lemon-yellow virginia, burley and perique are layered as whole leaf and pressed in cake form; after maturing they are cut and brought to ribbon form, then pressed a second time — a method the manufacturer calls double cut.

A nutty base from the burley comes forward in the flavor; virginia's sweetness and perique's peppery touch sit on this base. The body is medium. Suitable for smokers seeking a Virginia-Burley-axis blend carrying perique at a non-dominant level.
