Pelican

Pelican is one of the Latakia-forward blends prepared under the Michael Butera name. Cyprus Latakia, sharp Turkish and other Oriental leaf and sun-grown sweet virginia are brought together as whole leaf; the mixture is rested in cakes and then cut into fine ribbon. According to the manufacturer, the blend was first prepared by Peter Stokkebye in Denmark, with production later moving to J. F. Germain & Son in England.

In the flavor, virginia's sweetness sits alongside Latakia's smoke, while the Oriental leaf adds a spicy layer in between. The body is medium. Suitable for fans of Balkan blends who want to smoke Latakia over a sweet base.
