Royal

Captain Black Royal is the brand's member sold in a dark-colored package and is a typical example of what is called a "drugstore blend" in America — mass-produced aromatic tobacco. It contains black Cavendish together with golden Cavendish; the two leaf tones give the blend a speckled appearance. The cut is ribbon.

The casing combines caramel, cane sugar, licorice, vanilla and alcohol tones; its intensity is medium but the components do not separate individually. It gives a cool smoke, lights very easily and keeps burning. Nicotine is low and tobacco flavor stays in the background. Smoke volume is high and leaves dark, oily tar in the bowl. Aimed at smokers not seeking a heavy tobacco character but wanting a blend with plenty of smoke and a sweet room note.
