Jackalope

Jackalope is an unflavored blend prepared by slowly toasting light Virginia leaves to darken them and then pressing them into a cake. The heat treatment caramelizes the leaf's own sugars; the result brings together caramel sweetness with dark fruit, giving an intense but not sharp taste. The cake is dark chocolate in color and can be broken apart by hand, though a portion still needs to be cut and rubbed out. It burns slow and cool.

The blend belongs to the series pipe maker Chris Morgan prepared with the Sutliff Tobacco Company and is tinned as two cake slices. It is aimed at those wanting to follow the toasted, darkened form of unsauced Virginia over a long smoke.
