From Beyond 2025

From Beyond is an English mixture from Cornell & Diehl's The Old Ones series, dedicated to H. P. Lovecraft, inspired by the 1920s story of the same name; it is presented as the only blend from that series brought into the Small Batch line and is reissued year by year with the vintage noted. The 2025 edition uses Eastern North Carolina red Virginias (2017), bright Canadian Virginias (2022), Thai Izmir (2019), Turkish Latakia, Greek Basma (2022), and 2004-crop Cyprus Latakia. Head blender Jeremy Reeves describes the blend as his answer to an impression he took from an aged 1990s tin of Dunhill Nightcap.

The flavor profile is dark, dense, and sweet in the background, carrying an incense-like, smoky air. Red and bright Virginias build a sweet, earthy foundation, while Izmir and Basma add a spiced, lightly floral layer; the two separate Latakias — one classically smoky, the other darker and more resinous — round out the body. It is prepared for smokers accustomed to full-bodied, multi-component English mixtures.
