Granulated Perique

Granulated Perique is not a blend but a single-component tobacco: crumbled pure perique leaf, native to Louisiana's St. James Parish, fermented under pressure in barrels. Cornell & Diehl ties this product to the tradition begun by Pierre Chenet in 1824, and offers it in granulated form for easy mixing when building blends.

It is not designed to be smoked on its own; its nicotine and flavor intensity are very high. It is used in small proportions by smokers building their own blends or wanting to add spice and fruit depth to a Virginia blend they already have.
