Red Carpet is a mixture in which Cornell & Diehl presents red Virginias and Perique pressed and sliced into flake. Per the maker's listing, the composition consists purely of Virginia and Perique; there's no Latakia, Oriental leaf, or casing. Pressing concentrates the red leaf's breadlike, fruity sweetness.
Perique balances Virginia's sweetness by adding a measured spice layer evoking plum and pepper. When the flake is rubbed out or folded for packing, it burns cool and slow. Suited to smokers wanting to get to know the classic VaPer line and looking for a flake well suited to aging.
