Redburn

Redburn is a blend in which white and dark Burley leaf are mixed into red and bright Virginia, supported by a small amount of dark fire-cured Kentucky. A dark rum-and-molasses touch is added to the mixture, then it's pressed into old-style crumble cake; when preparing it, pieces are broken off and rubbed out by hand.

Despite having casing, the blend doesn't fall into the aromatic class; rum and molasses stay as a sweetness layer softening Burley's earthy, tangy sharpness. Kentucky leaf occasionally brings a tone reminiscent of barbecue smoke. Full-bodied in both nicotine and body, it suits those looking for a Burley-based, sweet-but-not-sugary smoke.
