Sansepolcro 2024

Sansepolcro is a blend in Cornell & Diehl's limited Small Batch series. It takes its name from Italy's Sansepolcro region, where tobacco growing dates back to the 17th century; the blend's core is KY171 Italian dark fire-cured Kentucky leaf, grown on a small farm there, cured and fermented twice. This leaf is joined by select red and light Virginia grades and unsweetened Dominican black Cavendish.

In the 2024 release, the mixture was rested under press for seven days, then sliced as flake instead of ready-rub. On the flavor side, soft citrus notes come forward alongside a spicy undertone reminiscent of earth and clove. Thanks to the body the fire-cured leaf brings, it offers a filling smoke; suited to smokers who like dark Virginia-and-Kentucky compositions, accustomed to smoking flake.
