Star of the East Gold

Star of the East Gold is the lighter wing of Cornell & Diehl's long-running Star of the East family. The blend's base is built on stoved bright Virginia leaf; equal proportions of Cyprus Latakia and red Virginia are added on top, and Turkish (Oriental) leaf brings out the blend's floral, sweet side. It's tinned ribbon cut, making it easy to pack and light.

The resulting flavor preserves the classic English blend's smoky core while making Virginia's breadlike sweetness and the Oriental's dry spice tones more visible. Sitting at a medium point in nicotine and body, it can serve as an entry point for smokers who find dark Latakia blends too heavy but aren't drawn to full aromatics either. It carries a less intense Latakia presence than Star of the East, the family's first member.
