XX Flake is one of two commemorative blends Cornell & Diehl prepared in 2020 for Smokingpipes.com's twentieth anniversary; the two X's in the name refer to the number twenty. Its composition includes light-colored Virginia leaf alongside two separate Oriental tobacco varieties and eighteen-year-aged Perique. After pressing and cutting, the mixture is tinned as broken flake.
Its profile is described with spice and citrus notes coming forward, with the Oriental tobaccos layered over a Virginia-Perique skeleton. Its pressed structure and high Virginia proportion make the blend well suited to aging. Being released in limited quantity, it isn't in continuous production.
