Yale Mixture is a ribbon-cut English blend built purely from Virginia and Latakia. Records indicate it was released in August 1996, designed as a reinterpretation of the now-discontinued Carreras Craven's Mixture. With Latakia kept low, the smoky leaf spreads through the base without coming forward or masking Virginia's sweetness.
Its two-component structure keeps the blend plain and legible: Virginia's sugary, lightly tart taste and Latakia's peppery, smoky tone are sensed in turn. It's described as a recipe written for smokers approaching English blends for the first time, or those who don't want Latakia to dominate.
