Blenders Bench: Belmont Perique

Belmont Perique is the pure Perique leaf sold in Daughters & Ryan's Blenders Bench line. Perique is a tobacco fermented under pressure in Louisiana and is generally used in small proportions in blends.

Its flavor is spicy, peppery, oily, distinctly earthy, and woody, accompanied by fermented, malty-sour fruit tones recalling fig, raisin, and plum. Smoked on its own, nicotine and flavor intensity are very high; its main function is being added in small amounts to Virginia blends for spice and depth.
