Blenders Bench: Red Virginia

Red Virginia is the dark-colored Virginia leaf sold in Daughters & Ryan's Blenders Bench line. Coming from the plant's lower leaves or darkened through heat treatment, this tobacco gives a less sharp, deeper flavor than bright Virginias.

Its flavor brings forward dark fruit, bread, light earth, and a heavier sweetness; nicotine sits medium. In blending it's used as a source of body and mature sweetness, to balance out the acidity of bright Virginias.
