Picayune

Picayune is a full-bodied blend from Daughters & Ryan combining air-cured Burley leaf with flue-cured golden Virginia, topped with Perique and Turkish leaf. It takes its name from a long-discontinued cigarette brand of the same name and, per records, was prepared as an adaptation of that blend for pipe smokers.

It's known for its fine cut and high nicotine level. On the palate, Perique's pepper-and-plum spice and the tangy, resinous tone of Samsun-type Oriental sit on top of Burley's earthy base; this spice spreads across a dry-hay-like background. Aimed at smokers accustomed to unflavored, strong blends with a high nicotine tolerance.
