Old Ironsides

Old Ironsides belongs to Dan Tobacco's American history series, named after the nickname of USS Constitution, the oldest ship in the US Navy. It's a high proportion of Cyprus Latakia, rounded out with dark fire-cured Kentucky, Perique, and Virginia leaf. The blend is pressed, aged for twelve weeks, then sliced into flake.

The smoke is full-bodied and cool, with a high flavor load: Latakia's smokiness is the defining note, Kentucky adds an earthy, smoky depth, Perique a peppery sharpness, and Virginia an underlying sweetness. Being flake cut, the leaves need rubbing or folding before packing. Aimed at experienced smokers who want a Latakia-heavy profile; too heavy for those expecting a mild blend.
